London Fletcher has played in 231 consecutive games. He seems determined not to let that streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon.
The Washington Redskins linebacker was listed as questionable after going through a light practice on Friday, but CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora reported Saturday the Redskins expect Fletcher to start against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Fletcher underwent six hours of testing with a neurologist on Thursday due to balance issues he reported to the team on Monday. He's also dealing with an injury to his hamstring suffered in last Sunday's loss to the New York Giants.
Fletcher has started every game he's played in since 2001. His playing streak began as an undrafted rookie with the St. Louis Rams in 1998.
"That's something I can't even imagine," Steelers linebacker James Harrison said of the streak, via NFL.com and NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala. "That's a lot of prep and luck and just being blessed."
Kinkhabwala recently spoke on the phone with former New York Giants great Michael Strahan, who believes Fletcher is the most underrated player in the NFL today. Strahan called Fletcher one of the most consistent, steady players he's ever seen.
The Redskins have struggled on defense this season -- ranked 29th overall -- so the importance of Fletcher's availability goes well beyond the streak. If the linebacker doesn't play, or is limited, Pittsburgh tight end Heath Miller could be in line for a monster game on Sunday.
