The NCAA released a statement on the matter Friday after meeting with USC athletic director Pat Haden earlier this week at NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind. USC had asked for the review after the NCAA granted Penn State relief from the sanctions it received following the Jerry Sandusky case.
"There is no comparison between USC and Penn State," the NCAA reportedly said in its statement. "USC's appeal was denied, and there is no further consideration being given."
Haden had initially said USC would not ask the NCAA for a review, but quickly decided for a change of course in tactics.
USC is limited to having 75 players on scholarship and signing 15 recruits to letters of intent through the 2014 season. FBS schools are allowed to have 85 scholarship players and are able to sign 25 recruits each year.
