If Chan Gailey can't save Vince Young, no one can. That's our stance, even though we're the last remaining members on the Vince Young bandwagon. It remains to be seen, however, if Young will even get the chance in Buffalo.
Despite Young reportedly looking to be in great shape during his workout for the Bills on Wednesday, the Buffalo News reports that "no deal is imminent" with the former Texas product. He already has left Buffalo.
"It'll probably be made a bigger deal than it should be," Bills general manager Buddy Nix said on WHTK-AM in Rochester, N.Y., seemingly forgetting that BuffaloBills.com broke/promoted the news on its Twitter account. "We try to look at all avenues that might get us better and if we can, create some competition at that position for a backup job.
"We're set with our quarterback, committed to (Ryan Fitzpatrick) and are completely with him. We think the more good people we put around him, the better we'll be. If we can bring in some competition for a backup role, one of them will make our team better."
Perhaps Young is looking for too much money if he's not already signed. He makes a lot of sense as competition for Tyler Thigpen for the backup job. At this stage in his career, it should be about opportunity, not money, for Young. He's not going to find a better opportunity than this one.
