Nick Kaczur's season might be over before it begins.
The New England Patriots offensive lineman underwent back surgery in the last week to 10 days, the *Boston Herald* reported Saturday, citing two sources close to the situation.
Kaczur was expected to fill the void left by guard Logan Mankins, who is holding out because he is unhappy with his current contract.
According to the Herald's sources, Kaczur, a five-year veteran, had been in serious pain because of a bulging disk that was hitting a nerve. Now the team is waiting to see if the pain has been reduced before making a final determination about the upcoming season.
Kaczur suffered a serious back injury during the the second day of training camp and never rejoined the team.
