Report: Quarterback Max Wittek to transfer from USC

Max Wittek, who lost out to Cody Kessler for the USC Trojans' starting quarterback job last year, will transfer to another college, he told the school Wednesday.

Wittek will graduate from USC before he transfers, according to the Los Angeles Times. The fourth-year junior will have two seasons of college eligibility left.

"At the very beginning I'll be open to anything to keep that spectrum open," he said. "I hope to narrow it down to a few schools I feel comfortable with.

"I've learned a lot since I've been here," he said. "I've been through a lot and USC has helped me become the man I am today and there is no better place. The Trojan family is amazing."

Wittek completed 14 of 26 passes in 2013 for 212 yards, one interception and no touchdowns. Kessler, who's returning to the Trojans in 2014, completed 236 of 361 passes for 2,968 yards, with 20 TDs and seven INTs.
