San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Randy Moss has the chance to go out on top, but Super Bowl XLVII might not mark the end of the 35-year-old's career.
Citing a source familiar with the wideout's thinking, ProFootballTalk reports Moss plans to play at least one more season.
There's no guarantee that would happen with the 49ers. Moss is set to become a free agent in March after playing through the one-year, $2.5 million deal he signed last spring.
Moss retired following the 2010 campaign, but he returned this season -- his 14th in the NFL -- to play a supporting role in the 49ers' offense. Coach Jim Harbaugh has credited Moss repeatedly for his veteran leadership, even if Moss is no longer putting up eye-popping numbers on the field.
Moss' 28 receptions for 434 yards and three touchdowns this season are a shadow of his earlier days, but that production is enough to remain employed if he plans to stick around. If he doesn't, the next stop for Moss i almost certainly Canton.
