Last season's New York Jets tumbled down the stretch with a three-game losing streak, characterized by confusion on the field and fighting off of it.
Florham Park was quiet Tuesday, as practice went on minus 19 of the team's veterans. Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, Santonio Holmes, Darrelle Revis and Bart Scott were among those shipped out to attend off-site leadership training, Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger reported.
Ryan and his coaching staff attended the same program in June, put to the test by a former Army Special Forces operator and his team of combat-wounded veterans. With starters scheduled to sit out the final preseason game, it was a fine time to pull the trigger. Off the veterans went for a day of trust walks and campfire discussions.
"We just had such a great experience as a coaching staff, and I'm hoping the players had the same kind of experience we had," Ryan said.
Don't know about you, but we'd hand away our lunch money for a chance to see our nation's Special Forces sort through the simmering catfight between Sanchez and Holmes. That's the Lord's work, right there.
