Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III met with reporters Monday and painted a rosy picture of his surgically repaired right knee.
"I feel good now. I felt good a couple weeks ago, but I definitely felt better today," Griffin said. " ... I'm in rhythm out there throwing the ball."
Griffin caught fire last week, completing 16 of 17 throws in Thursday's 7-on-7 drills.
"I'm ready to move on from 7-on-7s," Griffin acknowledged, but confirmed he harbors no plans to play in the preseason, talking repeatedly about Week 1's tilt with the Philadelphia Eagles as the target for his return.
Griffin has displayed solid footwork in practice and "really planted and threw with impressive velocity" last week, according to The Washington Post. The Redskins wisely have taken a conservative approach to the quarterback's return, but Griffin sounded anxious for the next step, saying of the knee, "It's not something I'm thinking about ... the leg's not an issue."
After an offseason flush with questions, whatever doubt remained about Griffin's readiness for the regular season has faded into nothingness.
