With five losses in the past seven games, Rex Ryan is on the hot seat in Buffalo.
Bills players have made it clear this week, though, that they want their head coach to remain in place next season.
"As players, we support our coach...If it was up to me, I want my coach here," running back LeSean McCoy said Wednesday, per the team's official website. "I think Rex is the guy for the job. That's above my pay grade."
Veteran guard Richie Incognito was even more emphatic in his support of Ryan.
"For me, I want to fight for Rex," Incognito said, via the Buffalo News. "I want to go out there and get wins and keep him around here. ... For me, personally, it's like a challenge. The challenge has been accepted. There's this bad sentiment out there. And if it's true or not, I can directly impact the outcome and that's by playing well and playing on a consistent basis and leading this team."
McCoy and Incognito are two key cogs in a rushing attack that leads the NFL in yards (2,010), yards per carry (5.4) and rushing touchdowns (24).
As dominant as Anthony Lynn's ground attack has been on offense, it's Ryan's defense that could cost him his job.
Only the Browns and 49ers have allowed more points since Week 7. Taking advantage of poor tackling Buffalo defenders last week, Steelers tailback Le'Veon Bell became the first player this season to outgain an opponent by himself.
In fact, defensive tackle Marcell Dareus has guaranteed the Bills won't be the first team to fall prey to Cleveland this season.
