After spending the past month rehabbing a sprained ankle, former Seahawks running back Robert Turbin has high expectations for the rest of his first season with the Browns.
Turbin told Northeast Ohio Media Group that he's aiming for 1,000 yards in the final 11 games.
Marshawn Lynch's caddy the past few years in Seattle, Turbin is now prepared to take over the backfield in Cleveland. He even took his offensive linemen out for a steak dinner Thursday night.
"I did it in high school and college," Turbin explained. "Seattle was just different. I was younger in my career and I was new. There were things I wanted to do and I had a certain budget.
"I feel like this is going to be my team."
Although Turbin and starter Isaiah Crowell (toe) are both listed as questionable this week, Turbin "absolutely" believes he can carry a heavy load if called upon versus the Broncos on Sunday.
It will be interesting to see how the playing time shakes out. Ranked just 28th in rushing at 88.4 yards per game, the Browns' ground attack could use a shot in the arm.
With rookie Duke Johnson improving by the week as the pass-catching specialist, the question is whether Turbin is a better option than Crowell on early downs.
From what we saw in Seattle, Turbin is a fine role player capable of playing in any game situation. That said, Crowell offers more big-play ability.
Turbin's confidence is admirable, but the 1,000-yard goal is a pipe dream.
