Roger Goodell won't talk Sterling matter with owners

The NBA made history last week when it handed a lifetime ban to Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for racist comments.

However, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell believes the NFL will never have to worry about such diversity problems.

Speaking publicly for the first time on the Sterling situation, Goodell told the "Rich Eisen Podcast" that he has faith in the league's 32 owners and doesn't plan to address the controversy with them as a group.

"No, I believe that our ownership understands the world that we live in and how much we value diversity," Goodell said. "That's something that is one of the essential parts of what makes our league successful and has over the decades.

"So, no, I don't see a need to do that. I believe that our owners understand the importance of doing things the right way."
