Ron Rivera not sure if Cam or Anderson starts

Cam Newton is admittedly lucky to be alive after a terrifying car crash that stirred up the Panthers and the NFL a week ago.

But on Wednesday, he was back on the practice field throwing passes.

With Carolina still alive in the muddled NFC South playoff picture, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding whether or not Newton will play with the two transverse process fractures in his back.

Via this short clip from the Charlotte Observer taken on Wednesday, it looks like he might be on his way toward playing Sunday vs. the Browns.

"Tomorrow will be a big day, especially in the morning, to see where (Newton) is health-wise, if he's sore, if something's bothering him," Rivera said. "(The training staff) put him through some very rigorous stuff today with the intention of trying to stress it to see how he feels."

Backup Derek Anderson said during his news conference he and Newton split first-team snaps during practice Wednesday.
