On the back of J.J. Watt, the Houston Texans stormed from behind to turn a blowout in to an almost win.
In the end they still lost, 33-28.
Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who fumbled to seal the loss, reiterated the well-known saying that close is only good in horseshoes.
"We can't keep writing the same narrative of, 'Hey, we were close,'" Fitzpatrick said, per the Houston Chronicle. "That's not what we're here for. We're here to win."
There aren't enough words in my thesaurus to describe Watt's play, but the dominating defensive lineman said that even his fumble recovery and touchdown rumble don't mean much because there was no win attached.
"Big play, but at the end of the day, not enough," Watt said. "Gotta find a way to do more."
A man who compiled seven combined tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss, three passes defensed, four tackles, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and numerous other blown-up plays just said he needs to do more. (The rest of us are just left to question our lives' motivations.)
