As expected, San Diego Chargers officially was ruled out running back Ryan Mathews on Saturday for their regular-season opener against the Oakland Raiders on Monday night.
The running back suffered a broken clavicle in the Chargers' preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers.
Mathews noted Friday that he still had not been cleared for contact and probably would not play Monday against the Raiders.
Mathews carried the ball 222 times for 1,091 yards and six touchdowns last season in 14 starts.
