Tannehill's MRI didn't reveal any structural damage, a source told the Miami Herald, but the rookie quarterback is experiencing "considerable discomfort" because of a bruised quadriceps and a bone bruise in his left knee.
Tannehill's status for the Dolphins' next game against the Indianapolis Colts could be determined by how much mobility he shows in practice this week. Two players who saw Tannehill on Monday told the Herald the quarterback was walking better than he did Sunday.
Tannehill was injured on a first-quarter sack by Calvin Pace in the Dolphins' 30-9 win over the New York Jets. Tannehill believes he'll be ready to face the Colts, but Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman had a more measured outlook.
"Well, I didn't see him do anything today," Sherman said Monday. "I saw him walking around a bit, and I know he's fairly optimistic, but we just have to wait and see."
Matt Moore replaced Tannehill against the Jets and played well in his first game action of the season. Moore is one of the NFL's top backups, which makes the Dolphins better equipped to handle this situation than most.
