Ryan Williams out for rest of Arizona Cardinals season

Cardinals running back Ryan Williams has been dealt another cruel blow.

Rapoport: Colts win one for Chuck

Chuck Pagano's fight with leukemia inspired the Colts in a major way, reports Ian Rapoport. Plus, more Week 5 notes. **More ...**

Coach Ken Whisenhunt announced Monday that Williams will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury suffered against the Rams, according to the team's website. A second round pick in the 2011 draft, Williams missed all of his rookie season with a torn Achilles' tendon.

Williams has a great running style to watch and is an easy player to like off the field, but he was struggling this year with a 2.8 yards-per-carry average on 58 carries before the injury. Arizona's offensive line was not making holes for Williams to run through, a problem that only figures to get worse considering the team's injuries at the position.

Beanie Wells and LaRod Stephens-Howling have also been hurt. Wells is on injured reserve, designated to return later this season. Stephens-Howling's status for Week 6 remains up in the air, although he's expected to return. Untested players William Powell and Alphonso Smith are next in line.

The Cardinals have not been balanced on offense, putting too much on Kevin Kolb's plate. That trend figures to continue after this news.
