Seahawks GM: Nobody is going to wear Lynch's No. 24

No Seattle Seahawks player will wear Marshawn Lynch's No. 24 in 2016.

General manager John Schneider confirmed Monday the team wouldn't be giving out that jersey number.

Schneider's comments came after wide receiver Doug Baldwin made a plea to coach Pete Carroll on Twitter after the draft:

"I appreciate (Baldwin's) input," Schneider said. "I'm glad he wants to help distribute jersey numbers."

Schneider confirmed that Lynch still hasn't officially filed his retirement papers, but added Lynch is committed to being retired and his status is not an issue for the team.

"We've planned for if we were going to get the papers before June 1 or after," Schneider said. "So we're good."

Keeping No. 24 out of rotation is a nod to the important role Lynch played in the rise of the current iteration of the Seahawks and exemplifies what the running back meant to the locker room.

Beast Mode appreciates the sentiment.
