Dez Bryant isn't the only one who can play the contract posturing game.
Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett, who lives in Honolulu during the offseason, told local station KHON that he may be open to missing the start of training camp if he doesn't get a raise.
"Hawaii's weather is great, so I'll just keep it at that," said Bennett. "When the weather's not as nice as it is here, it's harder to make that decision, so it just keeps it in my mind like hopefully something great comes out of it, but I don't mind staying home for a little while."
Bennett sat out OTAs over the contract dispute, but did attend the team's mandatory minicamp. He faces a daily $30,000 fine if he decides to hold out of training camp.
"Of course, I think I've outplayed the contract that they gave me," said Bennett, who led the team with seven sacks last season. "It's one of those things where you have to let your agent do the talking with the team and hopefully something good comes out of it. It never hurts to try."
Bennett shouldn't hold his breath. The Seahawks have more pressing concerns as they try to lock up quarterback Russell Wilson and middle linebacker Bobby Wagner to long-term deals. Bennett had his chance to cash in last March, but decided to take less money to stay in Seattle. He can't have it both ways.
