During an appearance on PFT Live, Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider told Mike Florio that HBO and NFL Films had approached the team to gauge their interest in "Hard Knocks", but the team declined.
Schneider was clear in stating that the club was not offered the opportunity to appear, but said the team would not have been comfortable with it. In addition to the Seahawks, the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins have either declined or, like the Seahawks, stated a lack of interest in appearing in the program ahead of an offer.
The New York Jets, the last team to appear on "Hard Knocks", have not ruled out a return appearance despite their stated intention to focus on football after going 8-8 in 2011 as the locker room spun out of control.
Between an idyllic waterfront setting at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, the Seahawks would have been a fairly entertaining subject for the summer series. They have an energetic head coach in Pete Carroll, running back Marshawn Lynchfilmed scenes for a movie starring Lee Majors earlier this offseason, there's a three-way battle at quarterback, redemption stories like wide receiver Mike Williams and perhaps tight end Kellen Winslow, and a group of up-and-coming stars on defense such as Red Bryant, Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas.
Maybe next year.
