Seattle Seahawks sign second-round pick Jarran Reed

Jarran Reed and the Seattle Seahawks are officially in business.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Seahawks have agreed to terms with Reed, the Alabama defensive tackle taken in the second round of last week's draft. The Seahawks traded up seven spots with the Chicago Bears to land Reed, who is a favorite to replace Brandon Mebane as Seattle's starting nose tackle.

NFL Media's Kevin Patra called Reed one of the steals of the draft and predicted that the 6-foot-3, 307-pound run-stuffer should have an immediate two-down role on Seattle's fearsome defensive line.

Reed was one of 20 defensive tackles taken in the draft, up from the 14 DTs taken a year ago. The last man standing in the green room on draft night, Reed now becomes the first Seahawks draftee to see green from his new employer.
