Two days ago we wrote about a fire alarm going off at the New England Patriots' hotel. At the time it seemed like an anomaly; a story that allowed for possible suspicion of subterfuge to be speculated upon and dismissed.
Now we've had a second false fire alarm in three nights, NFL Media's Kimberly Jones reported just before 5 a.m. local time.
As the Patriots begin to settle into their routine -- hitting the practice field on Wednesday and putting the ridiculousness of Media Day and other distractions behind them -- disruptions like random fire alarms going off at all hours of the night are a reminder that Super Bowl week is unlike any other.
The latest fire alarm sets off another series of non-football questions:
Rob Gronkowski said he slept through the last alarm -- we can't imagine that's a good thing -- did the "baller" remain deeply ensconced in dreamland again? Is this some tactic by an undercover sect of the Seahawks' famed "12s" to pester the Patriots? Does this specific hotel need to update its fire alarm system?
Whatever the reason, the non-football commotions continue for the Patriots.
UPDATE: The ruckus didn't affect Tom Brady's ability to get a good night's sleep. The Pats quarterback told the media Thursday he wasn't woken up by any rogue fire alarm.
