Sergio Kindle struggling to overcome hearing loss

Paul Kruger and Courtney Upshaw are the early favorites to start at outside linebacker for the Ravens this year. The team's 2010 second-round pick Sergio Kindle is just trying to make the roster and prove he can still have an NFL career after fracturing his skull falling down the stairs prior to his lost rookie season.

Kindle didn't make an impact on the team in his comeback season last year with only two active games and no states. But Kindle is participating in OTAs and minicamps for the first time. While he's back in football shape, he still hasn't fully recovered from his accident. Kindle admitted that he has hampered by hearing loss in his left ear.

"Everything else is fine," Kindle told the Baltimore Sun.

He's not sure how crowd noise will affect his ability to hear play calls, but the Ravens are working on finding a way to overcome the problem. For Kindle, it's one more obstacle to overcome in a career that has yet to get off the ground.
