Justin Blackmon's latest transgression won't end his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jaguars owner Shad Khan told reporters Thursday there is no reason his team should sever ties with the troubled wide receiver following his Wednesday-night arrest for driving under the influence.
"We want him to get help he needs," Khan said, according to Jaguars.com.
Blackmon has now been arrested twice for driving under the influence. He currently is serving an indefinite suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported early last month that the Jaguars remain open to bringing Blackmon back into the fold if the NFL reinstates him during the 2014 season. Blackmon's latest arrest makes the prospects of a 2014 contribution extremely unlikely.
Khan appears to have a soft spot for Blackmon, who was taken with the fifth-overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. In May, he called Blackmon's situation "an absolute tragedy."
Coach Gus Bradley acknowledged Thursday that Blackmon's arrest "creates more conversation" about the team possibly parting ways with the receiver. Khan has made it clear that's not the plan -- at least not yet.
