Shaun Hill headed to Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings have unearthed a new backup passer.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Shaun Hill is headed to Minnesota to fill the void left by Matt Cassel.

A veteran of 10 NFL seasons, Hill stepped in to start eight games for the Rams last season, throwing eight touchdowns to seven picks in guiding St. Louis to a 3-5 record. Hill didn't hurt the team, managing to complete 63.3 percent of his passes for the run-happy Rams.

The Vikings wanted to find a safe veteran behind second-year passer Teddy Bridgewater. They could have done worse than Hill, who gives play-caller Norv Turner a safe if bland option to lean on in case of a disaster.
