Some guys just don't look right wearing the No. 1.
Too many skinny wide receivers, defensive backs and kickers have come through the college ranks commanding single-digit jerseys for massive Tennessee freshman defensive lineman Kahlil McKenzie to pull it off. But there he was, the son of Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie, wearing the No. 1 as the Volunteers opened fall camp this week:
The player beside McKenzie, freshman Darrell Taylor, is no small guy at 6-foot-4, 228 pounds -- but he gives away about 100 pounds to McKenzie (6-3, 327).
McKenzie was one of the most heralded recruits in the nation last year, and he's a big reason for the high hopes among Tennessee fans for a revival of the program. Coach Butch Jones has a long way to go from last year's 7-6 record, but he's definitely bringing in the kind of players, like McKenzie, that can turn the Vols' fortunes.
