The St. Louis Rams faced the Cleveland Browns on Saturday night without rookie offensive lineman Greg Robinson in the starting lineup.
The No. 2 overall pick saw action in the team's third preseason tilt, but not with the first team. Robinson was replaced at left guard by veteran Rodger Saffold with Davin Joseph filling in at Saffold's right guard slot.
It's a curious development for the team's left tackle of the future. Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch noted that Robinson's "head is spinning" after repeatedly shuttling between left guard and tackle in the lead up to Week 1.
Robinson has started preseason games at guard only to shift into the bookend role after Jake Long departs. He's struggled over two tilts, though, giving up a sack, a quarterback hit and a hurry over 66 snaps, per Pro Football Focus.
"There's a few things I don't remember," Robinson told reporters Tuesday, per The Associated Press, "but I'm coming along well and starting to play a little faster."
The former Auburn mauler has two more weeks to get his house in order. Playing one position -- not two -- might help.
