Ornery Baltimore Ravens wideout Steve Smith made another enemy in Thursday night's thrilling victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After taking a hit from Pittsburgh Steelers safety Mike Mitchell, Smith vowed revenge on his former Carolina Panthers teammate.
"The best thing I can do without threatening him and saying that I will assault him when I see him," Smith said after the game, "is I will say I look forward to playing him again. He's on my lifetime hit list."
Smith accused Mitchell of not only spearing the venerable wide receiver, but also crowing after the hit, "How do you like that?"
Prior to his final NFL season, Smith vowed on The Rich Eisen Show to "wound, damage and puncture a lot of people" on his way out of the league.
Over the course of his career, the trash-talking Smith has had similar run-ins with defensive backs such as Fred Smoot (rowboat touchdown celebration), Aqib Talib ("Ice up, son") and Janoris Jenkins ("You're no Primetime").
Smith missed the end of the game with a lower-back injury, conceding after the game that his body feels 36 years old for the first time in his career. Per Yahoo's Eric Edholm, though, X-rays showed no more damage than a contusion.
