Steve Smith is going to vacation in style this week, and the Panthers are paying for it.
On The Jim Rome Show this week, Smith was asked a few questions about his exit from Carolina, a topic he's been very expansive on in the past.
Recently, though, it seems Smith has been looking to distance himself from the feud. He downplayed several questions about his exit on Rome but couldn't resist getting one last dig in.
"A $5 million dollar cashed check. When I got pushed out the door, or shoved out the door, they owed me $5 million dollars and that's what I received," Smith said, via CBS Sports. "And I'm planning on taking one of those vacations from that money this weekend on our bye week."
It's hard to imagine what the Panthers would look like this season if they paired Smith with dynamic rookie wideout Kelvin Benjamin. Currently, Smith is on pace to blow out his numbers from 2013 while the Panthers plod along with a supporting cast consisting of Jerricho Cotchery (32) and Jason Avant (31).
It's also hard to imagine that there's still not plenty of inward bitterness that Smith has toward the franchise. He's just being more diplomatic about it of late.
But in the meantime, a nice $5 million vacation goes a long way toward healing those wounds.
