The Houston Texans enter the 2024 campaign with an enticing addition to its wide receiver room with Stefon Diggs.
With the Texans' trade for the four-time Pro Bowler, Houston's receiver group now features Diggs, Tank Dell, Nico Collins, John Metchie III, Ben Skowronek and Steven Sims, among others.
Sims believes that the group has the potential to create more big plays heading into the season.
"We've got a great group," Sims said on Saturday at his annual youth camp, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. "I can't wait to get back to camp. It's going to be so much fun. I feel like there's going to be a lot of big plays, a lot of fun, but it's a business and it's work. It's time to get back to work and I'm excited to go back to work with the group we've got I feel like from top to bottom everybody can get it done."
Sims re-signed with the Texans after contributing as a receiver and special teams returner in four games last season.
The 2023 season was one to remember for Houston with the emergence of quarterback C.J. Stroud. The Texans made a surprise run to an AFC South title and made it to the Divisional Round. Now the club will be looking to make a deeper run in the playoffs after notable moves this offseason, including adding Diggs, running back Joe Mixon and pass rusher Danielle Hunter.
Diggs is fresh off a season in which he had 107 receptions -- seventh in the NFL. Dell had a notable impact in his rookie season with 709 yards and seven touchdowns on 47 catches in 11 games played. Collins reached his first 1,000-yard receiving campaign in his third season. Adding a player of Diggs' caliber brings explosive playmaking to the Texans offense, but another target in an increasingly crowded room.
Sims, however, is looking to contribute in any way he can to help the Texans win a Super Bowl.
"Had a great return, but, in the grand scheme of things, it means nothing," Sims said on re-signing with Houston. "We lost the game and we didn't reach our goals. That's the bottom line. We want to reach our goals and I want to do everything I can to help the team get to our goal, which is the Super Bowl."
