Pittsburgh offensive tackle T.J. Clemmings has visits set up with three teams, including one that needs a tackle and owns a pick late in the first round.
Clemmings (6-foot-4 3/4, 309 pounds), whom most analysts believe will go in the second half of the first round, has visits set up with the Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, and St. Louis Rams, according to a report from Foxsports.com. The Broncos, who pick 28th in the first round, are in need of a right tackle. Clemmings has played just two seasons along the offensive line but started as a junior and senior at right tackle for Pitt.
Denver's left tackle is Ryan Clady, who is one of the best in the league when healthy. The right tackle last season was Chris Clark, and Clemmings potentially is an upgrade, perhaps even a big one.
Initially, there was some thought that Clemmings could be a left tackle in the NFL. But while he has the necessary physical traits, he appears better suited for right tackle at the next level, at least early in his career.
New Orleans don't have a need at tackle, but it does need a guard.
Clemmings, who began his college career as a defensive tackle, is the No. 21 player on NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah's list of the top 50 prospects. Jeremiah said he believes Clemmings can be a starter right away in the NFL.
All six NFL Media analysts who have done mock drafts have Clemmings going in the first round; his earliest projection is 18th, and two analysts have him going to Denver at 28th.
