If TCU star receiver Josh Doctson's broken wrist prevents him from playing in the Alamo Bowl against Oregon on Jan. 2, he'll at least get one more chance to show NFL scouts what he can do.
Doctson has accepted an invitation to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl on Jan. 30, one of 11 new acceptances the Senior Bowlreleased on Monday.
Doctson was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver despite missing missing most of TCU's last four games with a broken left wrist suffered against Oklahoma State on Nov. 7. TCU coach Gary Patterson has left open the possibility that Doctson could return from the injury to play against the Ducks in the Alamo Bowl, and Doctson is making every effort to suit up for TCU one more time. Despite the missed action from the injury, Doctson caught 79 passes for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns on the year. Senior Bowl practices will commence roughly three weeks after the Alamo Bowl, giving Doctson more time to recover if needed.
Other top players to accept Senior Bowl invitations this week include Duke safety Jeremy Cash, Baylor offensive lineman Spencer Drango and UCLA wide receiver Jordan Payton. Cash was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back after recording more than 100 tackles for the Blue Devils, while Drango is Baylor's top offensive lineman.
Senior Bowl rosters consist of two 55-man rosters, and 82 players have already accepted invitations, leaving 28 roster spots remaining.
