Texans RB Moats takes struggling Slaton's starting job vs. Colts

Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats started in place of Steve Slaton on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Slaton was benched last week because of problems with ball control. Slaton has lost an NFL-high-tying five fumbles this season.

Moats ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills last week after Slaton was benched during the first quarter. Moats, a fifth-year pro, makes just his second career start.

The Colts put cornerback Kelvin Hayden, defensive tackle Fili Moala, running back Donald Brown, wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez and kicker Adam Vinatieri on the inactive list. All are injured.

Tight end Tom Santi and former starting left tackle Tony Ugoh were healthy scratches for Indianapolis.

The Texans deactivated wide receiver Glenn Martinez, defensive backs Fred Bennett and Dominique Barber, defensive tackles DelJuan Robinson and Frank Okam, tight end James Casey and guard Tutan Reyes. Casey, Barber and Robinson all were on this week's injury report.
