LANDOVER, Md. -- Texans receiver Andre Johnson will have an MRI exam on his sprained right ankle after injuring it Sunday, leaving the game, then returning to make a tying, fourth-down touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter of Houston's 30-27 victory over the Washington Redskins.
"We're going to go in, look and see what we find. I don't think it's nothing real bad, because the ankle didn't swell up on me since I played on it," Johnson said. "I think I should be fine."
Johnson limped off the field late in the third quarter after getting his foot turned one way while his body went the other getting hit as he grabbed a pass.
"I was a little discouraged. I was running around on the sideline. Wasn't feeling too good at first," Johnson said.
But he got his ankle heavily taped, then was back in the lineup in the fourth quarter.
Johnson finished with 12 catches for 158 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown reception on fourth-and-10 with 2:03 left in regulation that made the score 27-27.
"They came and told me he was done. He had a pretty good ankle (injury). I think we were down by seven and they were fixing to kick a field goal at that time, so it didn't look good. We block the field goal. He had them re-tape him. He walked over to me and said 'I'm playing,"' Texans coach Gary Kubiak said. "He tells me he's playing, he's playing."
