Thad Lewis expected to start for Buffalo Bills vs. Chiefs

Thad Lewis has taken a beating over his first three NFL starts. It won't keep him off the field in Week 9.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday night that Lewis is expected to start for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a source informed of Lewis' rib injury.

Lewis' availability was thrown into question after the quarterback sat out Wednesday's practice. He is dealing with the flu in addition to the rib injury he suffered last week against the Saints. Jeff Tuel split first-team reps with Matt Flynn. Coach Doug Marrone said earlier Wednesday Lewis is "50-50" to play this week.

Rookie EJ Manuel dressed for practice Wednesday but won't be available against the Chiefs. Manuel has missed the past three weeks with a knee injury.

Lewis might start, but we'll see if he finishes. The defense for the 8-0 Chiefs hasn't been inviting to any teams this season. We don't imagine the Bills will be any exception.
