Tim Tebow hears New York Jets fans' wrath at practice

NFL players often talk about their "Welcome to the NFL" moment. Tim Tebow had his "Welcome to New York" moment on Saturday at training camp.

Tebow heard some jeers from the crowd during his first open practice. A few "wobbly or underthrown" passes by Tebow were met with some groans from the New York Jets faithful. Later, in 11-on-11 drills, Tebow continued to struggle. A sample of the reaction from fans, courtesy of The Star-Ledger:

Debate: Where's the love for Eli?

Eli Manning has two rings. So why is he completely overshadowed by Mark

Sanchez and Tim Tebow in NYC? Let's debate! **More ...**

"Throw it, Tebow!"

"Tebow, come on!"

And finally ...

"That's a Tebow ball!"

Tebow finished 3-of-8 in the practice. He also took a sack. Tebow didn't speak to the media, but others commented on the derisive fans.

"Nothing surprises me," offensive coordinator Tony Sparano said.

Said tight end Dustin Keller: "You can hear anything from fans."

Jets coach Rex Ryan wasn't worried about the struggles in rainy conditions.

"I thought it was some of the defensive guys. No, I'm just kidding," Ryan said. "You know what, you are going to have moments, don't care who you are. We've seen it with Mark (Sanchez), with Tim, whoever. ... Sure, in those kind of conditions sometimes the ball will sail on you, if you overstride you'll dirt the football. Those are things we work on with all the quarterbacks."

In New York, Tebow's throws in the dirt will be dutifully recorded, commented upon and jeered. And it's only July.
