Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will once again host (and likely cover the bulk of the costs for) a "Jets West" passing camp in Southern California, and the most high-profile backup quarterback in the NFL will be there.
Two months after he wasn't invited by to informal workouts in Orlando organized by wide receiver Santonio Holmes, Sanchez made sure to invite Tim Tebow to "Jets West." Tebow has accepted the invite, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported Monday. The camp allows skill-position players on offense to get a little extra work in before camp opens up in late July
Every move involving Sanchez and Tebow has been analyzed to death this offseason, so why should a camp that won't even be open the media be any different?
Tebow is a member of the New York Jets. Furthermore, he's a quarterback. How could Sanchez conduct a "passing camp" and not invite one of the five the team has on its roster?
In addition to Sanchez, Tebow and No. 3 quarterback Greg McElroy, and presumably rookie quarterbacks G.J. Kinne and Matt Simms, at least nine of the 24 running backs, receivers and tight ends have committed to attending the camp, according to the report.
It's not known if Holmes, who has spent much of the last few weeks visiting the troops in Germany, will join them.
