Don't hold your breath on Todd Haley becoming the next head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
Gerry Dulac, the longtime Pittsburgh Steelers beat writer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reported Monday that a source said Haley set his asking price "very high" and made steep demands during his interview last week with Cardinals owner Mike Bidwill.
Haley is content in his role as Pittsburgh's offensive coordinator and isn't about to leave for Arizona without a deal that is "almost too good to pass up," Dulac reports.
Steelers fans have yet to warm to Haley, who endured a bumpy ride during his first season with the team in 2012. Lingering reports of discord with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger might have been overstated, but Haley's offense was an uneven beast as Pittsburgh missed the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
None of this diminished Haley's fondness for the Steelers, the team that employed his father, Dick Haley, decades ago on the personnel side. Haley also has a strong relationship with Bidwill, but we'd be surprised if that results in a move to the desert this offseason.
