Tom Coughlin tells Giants to can the trash talk

The Giants rode a three-game winning streak into Sunday night's loss thanks, in part, to Tom Coughlin meeting with his team and agreeing to lighten the mood in East Rutherford.

But suffering a 27-0 beatdown, especially with a flurry of trash talk on both sides leading up to the game, will change things quickly.

Coughlin spent Monday telling his players to tone it down, an attempt to reel the team in with a crucial divisional matchup against the surging Cowboys coming down the pike.

"We had a lot of meetings today and it has been reiterated to us that (the talking) didn't get us a win," Mathias Kiwanuka said, via the New York Daily News. "It wasn't anything that helped, so we have to focus all of our energy and efforts on only doing things that are going to help us win."

After starting the season 0-6 last year, Coughlin is more aware of his team's psyche than ever before. There's a slim chance they can rebound this week already, especially if they're still trash talking heading into Dallas.
