"I reached out to Dez, and it's obviously a tough situation, and you just learn, like everybody does," Romo said Friday on "NFL Total Access." "Dez is a good kid. He's going to learn from this situation. And it's just part of growing and becoming who he wants to be.
"I think that each year he gets better and better at understanding that he's in the public eye, and certain things he's got to think about. I'm just there for him. You know, you pray for him and you let him know that I'm here. I got his back, and he knows that."
Bryant has been a handful during his young NFL career. His Cowboys teammates have shown support when asked about this recent drama, but "growing up" and "maturity" continue to bubble up in comments.
This is the man who was given Michael Irvin's No. 88 jersey. Dez was anointed before he arrived. With training camp just days away, Bryant is being counted on to produce more than a headache.
