Safety Troy Polamalu will miss this Sunday night's game with a calf injury, coach Mike Tomlin announced. Meanwhile, the team will also suspend defensive tackle Alameda Ta'amu for two games without pay. He's banned from facility during that time. Ta'amu is a fourth round rookie that hasn't been active for a game this season.
This is a rare case of a team disciplining their own player before the league steps in. It's hard to argue with the move.
Ta'amu was charged with with DUI and trying to flee police early Sunday morning after a wild car chase that allegedly included him hitting multiple parked cars. He also faces three felony counts of aggravated assault, a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. In total, Ta'amu faces five felonies in 10 total charges.
Tackle Marcus Gilbert and linebacker Chris Carter will also miss Week 7, according to Tomlin. There is hope linebacker Lamarr Woodley will return to the field.
