Daniel Fells returned home this week after battling a life-threatening Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection.
In a world full of calloused causes and frozen feelings hardened by pervasive selfishness, this video of Fells' return home to his young children warms the heart:
"Back where I'm supposed to be. Thanks for all the love and support everyone," Fells wrote.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier this week that Fells had undergone seven surgeries, thus far, on his foot that has been ravaged by the antibiotic resistant Staph infection, and more were scheduled. After scans came back "looking good," Fells was released from the hospital this week.
At one point there were concerns that Fells, 32, could lose his leg or perhaps die as the infection crept into his lungs.
Fells might never play another down in the NFL, but at least his children still have their father around. And that is the best news of all.
