The Minnesota Vikings will be without their iron man in Saturday's game against the Washington Redskins.
Team historian Fred Zamberletti will miss his first game since the franchise's inception, ending a streak of 1,049 games attended.
Zamberletti had been ill and did not travel with the team on Friday, a team source told The Star Tribune.
The 79-year-old Zamberletti was the team's head trainer from 1961 to 1998. He serves as a senior consultant to the team now.
