The Minnesota Vikings jumped out to a 13-point second-half lead and held on for a 16-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium. Here's what we learned.
- Adrian Peterson has been in vintage form for stretches of this comeback season, but he had nowhere to run against the Chiefs. Peterson managed just 60 yards on 23 carries, his second game this season with 60 yards or fewer on the ground. Peterson played through hand and leg bruises in the win.
- The Chiefs, as expected, are in serious trouble on offense without Jamaal Charles. The team went over four quarters of game time across two weeks before scoring their first points without their star running back on the field. Neither Charcandrick West (3.7 YPC) or Knile Davis (2.6 YPC) established themselves as an efficient next man up. West's fourth-quarter fumble was a momentum slayer.
- The Vikings have found something in wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The fifth-round rookie was the best receiver on the field, finishing with seven catches for 129 yards. Diggs has 13 catches for 216 yards in two games. Expect him to have a regular role in the offense going forward.
- Is Alex Smith still the answer for the Chiefs? The quarterback salvaged his day statistically with a solid fourth quarter, but Kansas City remains a painfully pedestrian unit on offense. To makes matters worse, Jeremy Maclin exited the game with a concussion.
- We're still waiting to be impressed by Teddy Bridgewater this season. The second-year quarterback -- who was a buzzy preseason conversation piece -- threw two more interceptions and now has just three touchdown passes over five games. The Vikings need more from their young passer on days when AP can't get it going.
