Visits tracker: Patriots host Terrance Knighton

It's been a quiet offseason for Terrance Knighton, but the free-agent defensive tackle finally is feeling a nibble on the open market.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Knighton visited with the Patriots on Monday, per a source informed of his plans. His former team, the Redskins, also wants him back, per Rapoport.

It's the first known visit for "Pot Roast," who started 15 games for Washington last season and finished as the league's 27th-ranked interior lineman, per Pro Football Focus.

Rapoport noted that New England moved swiftly to line up a meeting with Knighton after watching tackle Nick Fairley, a player the Patriots had interest in, land with the Saints.

At 29, Knighton would give coach Bill Belichick a wide-bodied run-stopper who played well in that role for Washington a year ago. If the Redskins don't re-sign him, New England would make plenty of sense as a landing spot.

Here are other visits we're tracking Monday:

  1. The Cowboys are still looking for pass rushing help and are hosting former Lions defensive end Jason Jones, per Rapoport.
  1. The Dolphins' search for a veteran running back will continue Tuesday with a visit from Arian Foster, per Mr. RapSheet.
  1. A source told Around The NFL's Conor Orr that defensive end Kroy Biermann visited with the Bills on Monday.
