Weekly day off? Brady misses Patriots practice to rest foot

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady took a day off from practice for the third consecutive week to rest his sprained foot.

Brady skipped Tuesday's session in preparation for Thursday's game against the Detroit Lions. Brady participated on a limited basis Monday.

Brady had outstanding games the past two weeks after missing the Wednesday workouts.

Brady was asked during his weekly news conference if preparation is more difficult during a short work week.

"Well, I think it has its physical challenges and its mental challenges," he said. "We got after it pretty good yesterday. No one is really sure what day it is around here. It doesn't feel like a Tuesday, I'll tell you that. But as football players, we adjust. We do what we've got to do. We put a lot of installation in and try to understand what they do well and what they don't do so well and try to go out there and execute well on game day."

Other Patriots who missed practice with injuries Tuesday were starting guard Stephen Neal (shoulder), cornerback Jonathan Wilhite (hip) and defensive tackle Mike Wright (neck/concussion). Running back Fred Taylor (toe), nose tackle Myron Pryor (back) and safety Jarrad Page (calf) were limited.
