"We always talk, and I would love to be back in Philly. So we'll see how things go," Westbrook said. "I think I can help out. I think they have a very good group of young guys on this team at every position, but I still think I can help this team win."

Westbrook, 31, is a free agent after spending last season in San Francisco, where he did his best work down the stretch in the 49ers' offense.

The Eagles have a promising young back in LeSean McCoy, one of the NFL's more versatile runners. McCoy's 1,080 yards last season gave Philadelphia its first 1,000-yard rusher since Westbrook had 1,333 in 2007.

Westbrook ran for 340 yards on 77 carries last season and caught 16 passes for 150 yards.

Westbrook spent the previous eight seasons with the Eagles, notching 5,995 yards on the ground and 3,790 yards through the air for 66 total touchdowns. The two-time Pro Bowl pick was selected by the Eagles in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft.
