With Kyle Ortoncalling it quits, the Buffalo Bills now embark on another offseason littered with questions under center.
"We'll leave all of our options open for acquiring a quarterback," general manager Doug Whaley said during Monday's season-ending news conference. "We don't want to put ourselves in a corner and show our hand."
"That's something we'll look at throughout this offseason," Whaley said. "By sheer numbers, we're going to have to add one, maybe two more (arms). But that's something that we're going to go through with a fine-tooth comb and see if we can figure it out."
Whaley went on to call the selection of Manuel "a Buffalo Bills pick," while refusing to label the former Florida State standout a bust.
"I wouldn't say it was a failure," Whaley said. "His career is not over. It's just getting started. So that's how I feel about it."
The Bills won't go out of their way to rip a high-pedigree draft pick, but their actions speak much louder. Benching Manuel came first. Finding his full-time replacement is bound to be next.
