We asked CFB 24/7's panel of experts for their selections for which potential first-round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft helped himself the most this week. Here are their picks:
NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks:*Carson Wentz* boosted his draft stock with a great week of practice in Mobile. He not only impressed scouts with his physical skills, but he proved to evaluators that he has the moxie and leadership skills to flourish as a franchise quarterback.
NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah:*Sheldon Rankins* probably helped himself as much an any player in Mobile. He dominated the one-on-ones and he has all of the tools to be a three-down player at the next level. This draft class is loaded with talent at defensive tackle and there will likely be an early run in the first round. However, I would be shocked if Rankins didn't hear his name called on Day 1.
NFL Media analyst Charles Davis: My choice is Noah Spence of Eastern Kentucky. Talent was never an issue at Ohio State. He was explosive and productive as a Buckeye before off-field issues derailed him. If he keeps satisfying teams with his off-field growth, his sensational week in Mobile (he did not get blocked often in any drill) has him potentially getting his name called in Chicago pretty early on night one.
NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein:*Sheldon Rankins* was absolutely unblockable in all of the one-on-one drills and likely helped to strengthen his case to be a first-round pick. Rankins isn't the biggest defensive tackle, but at 6-foot-1 1/2 and 304 pounds, he's big enough. Rankins showed off his tremendous hands and balance, and was as skilled as any defensive tackle in Mobile. With an ability to get up the field and disrupt, he might have solidified his spot in the first round.
