Are you ready for another ride on the Charlie Whitehurst Express?
Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reported that starting quarterback Jake Locker missed his second straight practice for the Titans on Thursday, a strong indicator that he won't be available for Sunday's AFC South "showdown" with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Locker is battling the thumb injury he sustained in last week's crushing loss to the Browns, a game that saw Whitehurst babysit a 28-3 lead that devolved into a 29-28 disaster in favor of Cleveland.
The ponytailed Whitehurst came out of the chute smoking, tossing a pair of touchdown strikes over his first three passes. From there it turned ugly, as the backup repeatedly sunk the Titans on key third downs by throwing behind the chains.
After seeing what Brian Hoyer and the Browns did to Ray Horton's defense, Blake Bortles should feel encouraged by Sunday's matchup. The Jaguars rookie passer is already a better option under center than anything Tennessee has on the roster.
