Week 10 of the college football season came with plenty of heroes and a few goats as well. College Football 24/7 takes a look some draft prospects who made some noise, for better or worse.
Winners
D'Onta Foreman, RB, Texas
The Longhorns running back put himself in a sentence with Ricky Williams on Saturday; his 341 yards fell nine short of Williams' school record of 350. He averaged better than 10 yards per carry, albeit against a woeful Texas Tech defense, and by the end of the game, he had NFL stars singing his praises on Twitter.
*Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville *
Toss another seven touchdowns on top of the stack for Jackson. It stands 45 touchdowns tall now. The Heisman Trophy front-runner made child's play of Boston College's ninth-ranked defense Saturday in a 52-7 win, and he made it look as easy as the numbers suggest: 12-of-17 passing for 231 yards and four TDs, and a 15-for-185 rushing day with three more scores. He's on the short list of players who look like they're playing at a different level week after week.
Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami
It's been an up-and-down season for the Hurricanes junior, but on Saturday, Kaaya looked like the quarterback NFL scouts want to see. Kaaya's 32 completions, 47 attempts and four TD passes were all season-highs in a 51-28 win over Pittsburgh. He picked a good week to play his best, as 13 NFL clubs were on hand for the game, including deep contingencies from the Chicago Bears (four credentialed reps) and New York Jets (three credentialed).
Luke Falk, QB, Washington State
Falk completed 32 of 35 passes in a 69-7 drubbing of Arizona. Even in an offense that attempts a lot of high-percentage passes, single-game completion rate of 91 percent is plenty noteworthy. Falk, a junior, now has 12 touchdown passes over his last three games as WSU has won seven in a row.
Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State
Generally speaking, big games for quarterbacks are the norm in Big 12 play. But against Kansas State's defense, they're supposed to be a little tougher to come by. Rudolph had no trouble with the Wildcats on Saturday, however, completing 29-of-38 passes for 457 yards and five touchdowns in a 43-37 win. Rudolph overcame two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, with an 82-yard touchdown strike to star WR James Washington in the fourth quarter that closed a KSU lead to 37-35.
Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt
Along with a team-high nine tackles and a fumble recovery, Cunningham had a spectacular field-goal block -- he leaped clear over the Auburn center at the snap of the ball -- in the fourth quarter of a 23-16 loss to Auburn. Put Cunningham on a high-profile team, and he'd be nationally known as one of the nation's top players. With or without proper recognition on a 4-5 Vanderbilt squad, he's a week-in, week-out dominator.
Will Worth, QB, Navy
Nevermind that Navy is 6-2 and Notre Dame is now 3-6. The Midshipmen aren't supposed to hang with mighty ND, and thanks largely to Worth, they did that and more in a 28-27 upset. Worth blistered the Fighting Irish for 175 rushing yards and two touchdowns as the ND defense failed the first of its two tests this season against the triple-option offense (Army comes to South Bend next week). Worth was just 5-of-8 passing, but one of his completions converted a crucial first down in the final minutes that allowed Navy to run out the clock.
Losers
*Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU *
The Tigers star was shut down for the first time this season (17 carries, 35 yards) by an Alabama defense that overwhelmed LSU's offensive line. Just two weeks after ripping Ole Miss for a school-record 284 yards in his last performance, the junior could hardly find a hole Saturday against the Crimson Tide. Fournette's three-year aggregate against Alabama has been some tough sledding: 57 carries, 145 yards, and only one touchdown.
Antonio Callaway, WR, Florida
The Gators offense is desperate for a spark, and Callaway isn't developing into the consistent explosive playmaker that was expected. In a 31-10 loss to Arkansas, he caught just four passes for 44 yards. To be sure, it's not all on him -- QB Luke Del Rio has struggled, as has a banged-up offensive line -- but Florida needs more from him.
Malik McDowell, DL, Michigan State
It just hasn't been McDowell's year. The talented and versatile Spartans star extended his string of nagging injuries this season with an ankle injury that knocked him out of a 31-27 loss to Illinois. He made no tackles in MSU's seventh consecutive loss. He has just 1.5 sacks on the season, and even when he's been healthy, he hasn't been as consistent of a performer as he was a year ago.
Joe Mixon, RB, Oklahoma
The Sooners rusher didn't play in a 34-24 win over Iowa State on Thursday, and for the silliest of reasons. Mixon was suspended after he allegedly tore up a campus parking ticket and threw the pieces at the face of the parking attendant. Was it the kind of incident that will hurt Mixon in the eyes of scouts? Of course not -- tearing up a parking ticket is a temptation for anyone -- but Mixon should've known that tearing it up in front of the issuer wouldn't be the last he would hear of it. As it turned out, it wasn't the last he heard on the matter from his coach, either.
